355th Wing ACC Davis-Monthan AFB, Arizona OA/A-10A, C-130E, EC-130E, EC-130H 'DM' 41st/43rd Electronic Combat Squadrons 42nd Airborne Command & Control Squadron 354th/357th/358th Fighter Squadrons

The unit was activated as the 355th TFW in July 1962 at George AFB with the F-105D, but relocated to McConnell AFB in July 1964. The wing moved to Takhli RTAFB, Thailand in November 1965, and added EB-66B/C/Es. The wing was inactivated in December 1970, but reformed at Davis-Monthan AFB in July 1971, replacing the 4453rd CCTW operating the F-4C. The unit began converting to A-7Ds as the Corsair II replacement training unit (RTU) in July 1971, gaining the additional role of tactical drone launch and recovery with the DC-130A. A second drone squadron was added in July 1976, although all operational drone activities ceased in April 1979. The unit commenced conversion to the A-10A in March 1976, and changed to 355th Tactical Training Wing in September 1979. The designation was changed to 355th Fighter Wing in late 1991. The 355th assumed responsibility for front-line flying operations of aircraft based at Davis-Monthan AFB in April 1992, gaining the EC-130Hs of the 28th Air Division and adding the EC-130Es that relocated from Keesler AFB in 1994.
